OK, ladies. We've got a high tea at church this afternoon and I'm suppose to wear a fancy hat. Problem is, I don't have one and I don't even wear baseball caps, AND I don't even like to wear a skirt and be all dressed up. So, a church member got me a tiara instead.
A tiara.
I just took it out of the plastic and tried it on.
I looked downright SILLY with my brown glasses and long blonde hair (of course, I was wearing my bathrobe).
So now I don't know what to do:
1. Be rebellious and wear nothing but what I'm comfortable wearing: khaki pants and a nice sweater twin set.
2. Give in and wear the tiara with my normal looking clothes.
3. Give in and wear the tiara and a find a dress to wear with terrible, horrible panty hose.
Oh, what should I do? I'm the PASTOR'S WIFE! Must I succumb to peer pressure? Or should I keep the peace and go along?
Labels: pastor's wifery
I say go with your normal clothes and a tiara... or go all out and wear something crazy and the tiara. Or claim forgetfulness and "accidentally" leave the tiara at home!
Don't ya just love being the pastor's wife sometimes? Personally I don't even want to go to church today but I have to since I am the pastor's wife.

Oh my! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. ;-)
Too bad you don't know someone who has a Queen Elizabeth costume. Now, that! would be a fun high tea. Sorta serious but not serious.
My suggestion is to wear something that is a mix of fancy and comfortable and make it fun and not so serious.

Yup Tara-no "I'm so tired" excuses for the PW! I truly wonder what makes us so different from every other church member who can not participate in worship just because they don't "feel" like it? Truly, I'm always glad I went. ANYWAY--
Good suggestions Anita! I think I'll scour the closet to find something that's not too tight around the middle. Even though I'm only 10 weeks along, it appears my midsection is already making room for a baby...

I was thinking that jeans, t-shirt and the tiara make sense to me!! I used to think of myself as Queen of our home!!

I'm just wondering how the tea went... dying to know what you decided. ;-)

WELL, I changed my clothes into a nice white button down shirt and dress pants instead of the khakis, but I decided to "just be me" and not wear the tiara. I think if I didn't wear this clunky glasses I'd feel differently. Of course, the girls at church told me that then I'd look like a smart princess...But, uh, I'm so not princess material. It was a very nice time and the food was YUMMY.

I'm just chiming in to agree with this statement: "terrible, horrible panty hose". YES AND AMEN! Pantyhose are most definitely from you-know-where!
:-)
Glad you had fun!

Got here too late to vote about the tiara at church but I think you ought to wear it on a date night with your husband instead!

Oh Lisa I HATE wearing panty hose, esp. when I'm pregnant.
Hey Thatmom-my town is full of oil rig workers, cowboys and just plan rednecks so a tiara would get me some VERY strange looks at the local italian restaurant :)

I rarely wear pantyhose in the summer and I love dressing up. Glad you went as yourself though.
