Vacation Bible School

It's getting to be that time of year, fellow pastor's wives. Do you dread it? Do you love it? How does your church plan for it? Any curriculums you like? How do you advertise? Follow up with kids and their families? Do you have a huge budget or tiny budget?

We're looking at Concordia Publishing House's The Quest this year for our VBS. It really focuses on Jesus was being the way, the truth, and the life.

What are your thoughts?

(p.s. I figured out, with the help of hubby, how to download images! If you feel like I'm overdoing it, it's just because I'm so excited!)

Being Lutheran, we always use CPH material - except a few years we used Group, but then CPH went to that style of program and we love it. The kids are in multi-aged groups and go from station to station with older kids as their 'crew leaders'. We usually have one volunteer that organizes the whole thing. We gather 1-2 volunteers for the various stations, and they are then in charge of getting people to do jobs they need. Our church is great about helping out - usually have over 50 volunteers. Last year I was in charge of food (we have our VBS at night and start out with a light meal each night.) My husband then follows up with any visitors that attend the week after we're done. It's always a great time.
